Hillary Vs Trump; Something I Can See and Learn
I am
noticing Donald Trump firstly when the head of Indonesia Legislative Board,
Setyawan Novanto and Fadli Zon was caught by media visiting US by using public
budget (still debatable, but I assume they did :p). Novanto and Zon shaking
hand with Donald Trump in one moment when Trump gave campaign speech back in
the 2015. While Hillary Clinton, the wife of the former US president Bill
Clinton, I’ve heard several times when she still became the secretary of state
for quite long time and ever visited Indonesia. I do not know exactly that most
American I met here is demonstrating hatred with her because so much blunders
she made during her time in the office. I am in process understanding her
blunder so I can follow the flow to hate her as well, lol. No, I am joking by
the way, do not take it personally. Cheers.
Before
Trump and Hillary were chosen as the nominees, both of them had followed the
early stage of being nominated from the party they are in. The Republican Party
had several candidates that are competing each other in order to get nominated
by the party to run for presidency. I know several names, like Donald Trump,
Ted Cruz, John Kasich, and some other name I could not remember. I should have
remembered all if I were American, but the fact I am a proud Indonesian :p. The
Democratic Party had Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders that competed each
other to represent Democrat in the election. For your information, I like
Senator Bernie tagline, “The Future We Believe in”, it just a great tagline
I’ve ever heard for me personally. That’s it, no big deal.
Now, this
is what I like it about. Their campaign. Their campaign tends to reveal the
negativity of the other candidates. Negative campaign that directly spoken by
the candidate in their speech. Moreover, when it comes to the debate, uh it
goes really intense how one candidate tries to humiliate one another. And they
fight verbally with professional (I define the professional as it does not hit
physically). The thing that Indonesia doesn’t have. I personally support if
Indonesia election could do the same way, so that the people can determine
their choice of electing the officer wisely. Besides, it goes more interesting
to follow.
In my
country, the humiliation and the election war happened not because of the
candidate itself, but the supporter. It is more outrageous. If you visit
Indonesia in election time, you will see.
I still remember how Donald Trump accused Ted
Cruz when trump thoughts that Ted Cruz was not born in America. Its
sensational. I don’t know the respond of Cruz afterwards by the way. It seems
like all candidates try to force down other candidate through sensational
statements of their negative campaign. What I still wonder, the people still
support the candidate they trust regardless their controversy.
I still
remember, and probably all people across the world remember, when Trump banned
all Muslim coming to United States because of the frequently terrorism attack
and threat that accused all Muslim. However, the primary election still got him
in to the Republican nominee in the president election. If it happens in
Indonesia, it would result different story. If the candidate I support creating
the negatively sensational statement or controversial like Trump, I will unconsciously
dislike the candidate and support another candidate. Meaning that, in my
country, its sensitive. If you are running for office, be ready to be as patient
as possible to maintain your image even though the black campaign spreading
everywhere.
The two
presidential debate that I am currently following, it is so spectacular I say.
I see how obvious the perspective of the businessman (Trump) and the politician
(Hillary) respond to the issue that the moderator gave. I think, from the
delivery stand point, Hillary got more fluency and concise delivery that give
the audience the maximum impact for her listener. It is smooth and convincing.
On the other hand, if you see Trump, he is more into the idea where no
politician did that way. So much interruption and funny at some point. I still
remember when Hillary spoke about the Trump federal income tax, she said Trump
had never report his tax return and not paying the federal tax. The funny point
is when Trump interrupted “That makes me smart”. I say to myself, you are very
smart Mr Trump, very smart of you (applause).
From two
debates, Trump always emphasized how terrible Hillary was when she was in office,
creating bad decisions, many blunders, and most frequently questioning about
the 33 thousands email that Hillary deleted. I personally wonder, it is
impossible if the email deletion was a mistakes, 33 thousand email deleted must
be done in purpose. Or, there was a server error that format email, or she
changed the email address, so the email is still existing but nobody knows
that. Anyway it’s my thinking. Or Hillary thinks that email only contains the subscription
news from the Online shop that she registered for a member. I know the common
things that most women do, shopping. They will always be happy to do shopping.
Just tell Trump, Hillary, that the email is not containing any country matter, it’s
all about the online shop that always give a discount promotion up to 70%. I am
sure he will shut their mouth up. Okay stop, it’s enough.
Now it is kind
of serious.
I can say,
I can learn how the negative campaign will not literally kill or decrease the electability
of the candidate. But at the same time, educate the people. We know people are
not perfect. No one can be, but they can change and strive to be better than
yesterday. I can see from my view about Indonesian election, the election that
I mostly follow. When a negative campaign is being exposed, least people to
respond with a cold brain. Most of them are not really accepting the campaign
even fight back. My lecture ever said, “Most Indonesian does not know their
selves. If they do, they do not accept that”. American election to me could
reflect how the people turnout believe their candidate regardless of their
negativity. The people are thinking, and think forward. Indonesia still in
process, and I believe, by the time people are truly believe and support the
candidates purely from their heart and thinking. No one being driven by the
money they received the day before voting day, and no one is supporting
candidate that driven by the environment or influenced by anybody. It has to
come from the people itself, their heart, their research, and their
perspectives.
